My First Impression of Japan

You can hardly be unfamiliar with a country whose pop music as well as comics you take a fancy in, whose electrical products you are buying; a country which you are hearing about almost everyday from the mass media, what's more, which locates just beside your own country. However, you can still get very nervous about going to this country you are so familiar with, especially in case this is your first time in your whole life to go out of your own country, and you're going to spend a whole year in this new country.

2006-10-2 was definitely a day to be remembered in my life, two and half hours after I waved goodbye to my family and my motherland with tears all over my face, here I came, Tokyo, Japan.

Up till now, I have already spent 3 weeks in Japan. I have all kinds of interesting and exciting experience. However what impressed me most was that here in Japan, everything seemed to be arranged in perfect order. Whenever you go to take a bus or go shopping in a department or just cross a street, no matter how many people there were, the order was always well maintained. Even in Tokyo subway, which was known as the most crowded subway in the world, you didn't need to panic, thanks to the good order. Besides well maintained public order, Japanese do their work orderly. I have been to Chofu local government office to register, also here in UEC we have to deal with a lot of things under the help of international office. I was so thankful they had arranged everything so satisfactorily and orderly which have brought us so much convenience.

Japan is famous for its first-rate service. This is more than truth! Everywhere people are smiling to you, bowing to you and saying "thank you" to you, you are treated like a distinguished guest, just guess what most Japanese reply to your "thank you"? Oh they are so kind that they say "thank you" too.
Another thing I want to mention is the cleanness of Japan. Everywhere is neat and tidy , every car on the road looks like newly bought, and what's more, you don't need to brush your shoes for months.

I have been making friends with Japan students. It has turned out to be a very pleasant experience. Most Japanese students are very friendly and shy, and it's really a nightmare for most of them to speak English. So here is the tip: no matter how bad your Japanese is, just try to speak a little with them, they will feel much better instantly! I have learned a lot from Japanese students, something like Japanese customs, Japan's place of interest, and why Japanese girls like to wear that short shirts...... And I am definitely going to learn more.

Finally, the thing I am most interesting in---- food. Japan is famous for its "Sushi", but Japanese food is definitely not just about "Sushi". There are a lot of various kinds of good-taste as well as good-looking food with a distinguishing Japanese feature, which are really difficult to tell in English. Just mention one thing, although I have a small kitchen in my dormitory, and I have been here for 3 weeks, I haven't begun to cook yet!! I am busy trying all kinds of delicious Japanese food.

These first 3 weeks that I have spent in Tokyo are really wonderful. (Only except the prices is too high here) I am confident the coming days will surely turned out to be more exciting and rewarding.
