About the University of Queensland

The University of Queensland is located in sunny Brisbane, Queensland Australia and is the university of approximately 33,000 students, 7281 of which are post-graduate, and 4251 are international.

University of Queensland (or UQ) consists of three main campuses and several other specialised campuses. All together the university occupies 1940 hectares of land, on which 304,747 square metres of buildings are built.

The main campus of UQ, located at St Lucia, is situated on 114 hectares of land on the bend of the Brisbane River. It has many sports fields, and a nationally listed Great Court building made of sandstone of beautiful architecture. For the benefits of the students and staff the campus also has 3 lakes, rainforest walks and gardens on site.

In 1999 Australia's first purpose built, fully web-enabled university was built - it is the Ipswich campus of UQ. Located just outside of Brisbane it caters for many IT related courses with up-to-date facilities and infrastructures.

UQ's Gatton campus is used for farming and agricultural studies, providing many fields for both animal husbandry and agricultural studies. Also on this campus are some historical buildings.
