My first impression of Japan was taken four and a half years ago, on my first trip to Japan.
This trip was done through my high school, Dakabin State High School ( Click here for website), as an educational tour for Japanese student. Being only fifteen years old on my first overseas trip, this was an extremely exciting time.
Firstly, compared to Australia, Japanese people are very organised. Coming from a city of approximately 1 million people, Japanese cities are amazingly large. Being able to see buildings and urban areas for miles was an experience I couldn't have had in Australia.
Japan's culture, including the seemless integration of technology into traditional but changing lifestyles provides interesting differences to my home country.
Japanese schools, however, are also different. Everyday, the children receive meals from the school canteen and eat in the classroom. This differs from Australia where most children either bring lunch from home, or buy lunch in the school canteen. The meal is eaten outside.
