Main Objective :
The system is designed as a self contained data acquisition system equipped with a hydrophone. The system will sink to the sea bed when deployed. Once the support vessel is away, the system will then start collecting ambient noise. The system can be designed from deployment from several hours to several days.
Outline :
Ambient noise data are often collected by deploying a hydrophone or towed array from a vessel. The data are usually contaminated to some degree by the self-noise generated by the vessel, though towed arrays are less prone to this than single hydrophones. Contamination can be largely reduced if it is possible to silence the ship by shutting down all noise generating machinery, but this is rarely a practical option. So I decide to design this ambient noise data acquisition system which can work itself and without the vessel. Use this method the contamination can be largely reduced.
Abstract :
The Ambient Noise Data Acquisition system described in this paper is a compact, cost-effective and self-contained submerged data acquisition system for collecting acoustic data. The Ambient Noise Data Acquisition system can be bottom-mounted, collecting data without surface expression, making it ideal for collecting data in high shipping or fishing activity locations. To retrieve the system an acoustic release is activated on return of the deploying vessel, releasing a float with a retrieval cable attached that pops up to the surface. The entire system can then be recovered by hauling in the line.
Plan :
1. Literature study about Acquisition System and the hydrophone.
2. Think about the storage system.
3. Think about how to translate the noise data which is received by the hydrophone.
4. Design the structure of the Ambient Noise Data Acquisition system, and draw a sketch of the Ambient Noise Data Acquisition system.
5. Prepare some materials and make a model of the Ambient Noise Data Acquisition system.
Short term result :
Make a study on the Ambient Noise Data Acquisition system, and last make a model of the Ambient Noise Data Acquisition system.
Future result :
Make a material object of the Ambient Noise Data Acquisition system which designed in this paper, use it and collect the noise data.
