Tasikmalaya


Tasikmalaya is small town to the north west of Bandung. Now, Tasikmalaya divided by two regions. Tasikmalaya's city and Tasikmalaya 's regency's area. Tasikmalaya is clean city, with a small populations, A lot of Tasikmalaya's people's job is gardener and creditor.
Tasikmalaya often calls "Kota Santri", because Tasikmalaya has a lot of "Pesantren" (Traditional Islam's School). A famous special food from Tasikmalaya is Dodol Sirsak. The dialy language in Tasikmalaya is Sunda language.

Tasikmalaya is sixty kilometres east of Garut. Tasikmalaya is a center for rattan crafts, palm leaf and bamboo are used to make floormats, baskets, trays, strawhats and paper umbrellas, for cheaper rattan, visit te village of Rajapolah, 12 km north of town on the road to Bandung, where many of the weavers work.
Tasikmalaya (ussually called Tasik) also has a small batik industry and is also noted for, its bordel lace work and kelom geulis (wooden sandals).there are a lot of home industry in Tasikmalaya.

Cipanas Galunggung (these hot springs are 20 km to the north west of Tasikmalaya at the foot of gunung Galunggung. a volcano which exploded in 1982) has landsaped gardens and hot water swimmingfools and walking trail leads to a small waterfall and then on the galunggung crater. The crater is 3 km and a two-hour walk away.
It is a fine walk, through some forest and mountain meadow, But the trail is not always easy to follow. At the gate enterance to Cipanas a road that is for 4 WD vehicles also fork off the crater and is an easier if less interesting, walk.

Situ lengkong, which is 40 km north of Tasikmalaya and half a kilometer from the village of Panjalu, is a serene lake that was formed when the Hindu rules of Panjalu dammed the valley a forested island in the middle is home to thousands of flying foxes and contains a kramat (shrine) dedicated to the rulers Panjalu. Boats can be hired to take you around the island, but to visit the kamat involves the key from the village.
Ten kilometres from situ lengkong in the curug tujuh waterfall, 200m from the main road to Kawali.

Halfway betwen Tasikmalaya and Garut, Kampung Naga is a traditional village and museum piece of sundanese architecture and village life, the old ways are very much preserved in Kampung Naga.
The many tour groups that visit wouldn't come otherwise. Despite the fact that can be very crowded some mornings when big bus loads arrive, there's do denying the beauty of the place.
Kampung Naga, with is that old roofed houses, is nestled next to a river and surrounded by step hills terraced with rice paddies.
