History of UEC
UEC was established on May 31, 1949, based on the National School Establishment Law. The institution had as its goal the training of personnel to play a teaching role in the field of electric communications and contributing to advancements in the field of electric communications. With the rapid development in scientific technology, the education and research systems at UEC also grew, with the master’s course of the graduate school established in 1965, the doctoral course in 1987, and the independent graduate school in 1992. In advance of the 100th anniversary of the university’s establishment in 2018, the university is gearing up to expand research even further and maintain its position in the frontlines of engineering and science. These goals are summed up with the catchphrase “Unique & Exciting Campus,” or UEC, identical to the abbreviation of the university’s name in English.
